Here comes some sun

The sun is now shining

and has been for a number of days.  In fact, the sun has been shining long enough to dry the roof out and the contractor has been able to apply the first waterproof layer.  This layer is made of SharkSkin which is like a dense tarp material with one side coated in adhesive.  So now that it is dry enough, the sharks can swim across our garage roof......

and around the facia.

I was too chicken to climb out on the roof today though so I don't have an overview of the rest of the roof.

Further, the windows in the rotunda for the stairs just below the amazing sweeping staircase are being framed in.

While the contractor works diligently to get the house waterproofed before the next set of rains, Peter and I spent the weekend running cables and installing stereo mounts for the future musical enjoyment of all who visit!

The speaker mounts for the master bedroom

and just a glimpse of a few of the cables we have run through the house.

We have run network cable throughout the house now.  It was a painful process, but we are done with it now so we can rest on our laurels and rest assured that we will have enough networking to do just about anything we want to (as far as networking goes)!  To give you an idea of exactly how many network cables are strung along and through all the roof joists of our house, this is a photograph of the cable terminations in the future server room.

And this is only the networking.....we also ran speaker cable, phone cable, and television cable.  I cannot express how glad I am to say we are done with cabling!
