The little bits and pieces of drywall are being hung now, including the bits that hug the curvy part of the upstairs catwalk that lead to the connection point for the amazing sweeping staircase

and all the bits surrounding the windows that form the wall of windows in the living room

Not only have the bits of drywall been hung, but the outside metal corner supports are also installed and just a touch of mudding has begun in these areas.

There are a lot of little bits and pieces to be finished off.  But, as the drywall contractor told me today, the drywallers are happy for it because it means they have work.  With the fire and the rebuild process, we are doing our little bit to stimulate the economy.

And the drywall guys will still have more more work to do as the metal corners are not yet finished....

More mudding is going on downstairs, in the hobby room

The frame of the media room door has been mudded now and it accentuates just how thick this wall is.  The actual door frame is covered in paper and blue tape - that would be the normal thickness of a wall.  However, since we have the giant wall of windows in the living room, we had to have some extra steel structural support.  This steel structural support, the giant I-beams that were erected months and months ago (see June 10, 2009), are now encased in this wall and create a dramatic entry into the media room.

We inch ever closer to the finish line....
