The interior has been painted

The interior of the house has been painted with primer and looks bright and cheery!  A quick wander around the house demonstrates how much more it looks like a house with the painting started!

Standing in the future kitchen and looking to the dining room

Standing in the dining room looking out toward the living room and foyer

On the other side of the foyer, we have the hallway that connects the guest bedroom and bathroom to the livingroom.

Downstairs, the media room is looking huge now that it is painted!  Look at how big the screen area is now

and the other end of the media room

The reading room (formerly the hobby room) is all painted but the coolest spot down here is still the base of the rotunda

An awesome view is the one looking up from the bottom of the rotunda, at the base of the stairs in the reading room, up toward the ceiling.

This view will soon be obscured by the actual amazing sweeping staircase!!  Yes, the stairs are going to ship on April 7 and will arrive 7-9 days after that.  The day they arrive will be an amazing day!

Heading upstairs, the view of the living room (ceiling) is looking cleaner now with the paint

And of course, another view of the rotunda, this time from top down

While they paint the inside, the pond continues to fill with water.  The pond is not leaking and as the rain falls, it collects in the pond.  As these photographs show, the pond now has over 12 inches of water in it.  (As a reference, the steps in each corner are approximately 12 inches from the floor of the pond.)

This week has also seen the start of the waterproofing of the garage.  We are having quite a bit of trouble with the city now trying to come to an agreement on the driveway.  Unfortunately for the city, I have a stamped approved set of plans so they cannot force us to do anything more than what is contained on the plans.  We have requested a meeting to finalize the plan for the driveway, which by the way, will coincidently match exactly the plan for the driveway that is on the stamped approved set of plans, but we have not heard back from the city.  But we want to pour concrete for the garage and driveway at the same time so we cannot pour the garage until the city agree to whatever we want on the driveway........

Anyway, before they pour the concrete for the garage, it has to be waterproofed, and that has begun this week

The waterproofing membrane is installed at the base of all the walls, and later, but before the concrete, the entire floor of the garage will be painted with an roof tar like material which will waterproof the remainder of the garage floor.

Slowly but surely, the house is getting closer to finish.
