Part 1

The finish carpenter, Art, has been spending most of his time glueing and cutting and fine tuning the veneer for the amazing sweeping staircase.  This staircase has proven to be quite a bit more work than anyone expected!

But now the staircase has a beautiful veneer covering that looks a lot better than the filled bolt holes that were the staircase "finish" before...

Art has also veneered the bottom of the stringer

all the ends

and the top of the stringer.  Most of Art's Friday was spent cutting the veneer to create the groove that the glass railings will sit in.

The veneer looks like it is almost all finished.  The next step is to set the glass and stain the amazing sweeping staircase.

In the bathrooms, the other finish carpenter, Jose, the electrician, and the plumber have been hard at work.  The electrician has wired the vanity light in the guest bathroom and it automatically came on as I walked toward the bathroom today!

The plumber has installed the hand shower in the guest shower

and Jose, the finish carpenter, has hung the cabinet in the guest bathroom.

With these three things completed, I think the guest bathroom is done!

The master bathroom is very close to being done (there is one more cabinet that needs to be installed, but I have to figure out where it goes first).  A view of the master from the end of the bathtub shows the sinks, mirrors, new vanity lights, and new cabinets.

The same view but lower shows the full vanity

A close up of the bathroom cabinets.  There are three shelves and two pocket doors in each one.

A view of the vanity area from the doorway

A view from further out the bathroom door shows the vanities and the soaking bath

I really like the light fixture, even though it is not live yet.

Art took a break from veneering the staircase to put in the "wood" sides for the refrigerator and freezer.  I hope this means that the refrigerator and freezer are going to be installed this week????

The tilers are back and starting to put in the kitchen tile on the backsplash.  We chose a grey tile with white pinstrips.  Unfortunately, we were looking at the tile so close up at the tile store that we thought the pinstrips would be more pronounced, but they are almost invisible once the tile is actually on the wall.
