Okay, those weren't his actual words. What he said was that he should have paid the difference between the cost of drywall and thinwall because it would have been cheaper than doing all the replastering and remudding he has had to do on the drywall. I think they have probably replastered every inch of drywall in this house, some areas more than once!
If you don't believe me, just look at the walls of the house as they are now. Almost every wall in the house has some sort of patching in the drywall.
The living room
the downstairs hallway
The rotunda around the amazing sweeping staircase has major patching of drywall
Even the ceiling above the rotunda has been patched
The upstairs hallway
The study... This patch was a rather major change. They actually had to redo this entire section to make the corner run vertically. Before, the corner had a nice double S shape to it.
The master bedroom is striped with drywall patches
By the way, the floor in the master has been completed
The master bathroom also has some patches
And downstairs has a giraffe spots pattern of patches
Not all of these patches are full drywall patches where they actually removed and replaced pieces of drywall; some of them are just new mud that was used to flatten the wall or fill dings and scratches. I should also note that with the exception of the wall in the study and the drywall immediately around the light fixtures for the rotunda, all of the areas that were patched were areas that Jed insisted get patched. He is the one who noticed the wavy walls and dings and scratches and took it to the drywaller without any prompt from us so for that we thank him!
